Oftentimes, when people reach the point of seeking counseling, they have lost a sense of hope. At Hope & Healing Counseling, the goal is to restore that sense of hope.
Taking that first step toward hope and healing is often a scary one. It is my goal to put you at ease and help you feel comfortable with the counseling process. I will do a complete assessment of your needs and concerns, and together we will identify the ways in which you would like counseling to improve your life.
Based on the type of counseling you are looking for - individual, couples, family, or some combination - and the types of issues you would like to work on, we will determine a plan for how to best reach your goals, at a pace that feels comfortable to you. I want you to begin the experience of hope and healing in your life as soon as possible.
I have been providing mental health counseling services to individuals, couples, and families, in the Des Moines area, since 2001. I have had the pleasure of working with a wide variety of populations, in various community settings.
Prior to receiving my Masters degree in Counseling, from Iowa State University, I worked extensively with domestic abuse and sexual assault survivors at area shelters and programs. Since receiving my Masters degree, I have worked as an EAP counselor, a Family Resource Specialist, and a Family Therapist. I also have experience facilitating groups for sexual abuse survivors, domestic abuse survivors, and women with self-esteem issues; as well as co-facilitating STEPPS and STAIRWAYS groups for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder.
Some of my most rewarding work experience has been working with teens and young women. I take pride in remaining genuine with my clients and on being able to connect and work effectively with clients, of all ages, who typically do not like therapy.
